The Joshua Grindle Inn is an enchanting property nestled atop a knoll overlooking Mendocino Village and the Pacific Ocean. This Mendocino bed and breakfast offers a variety of romantic guestrooms amidst 2 acres of vibrant gardens and magnificent Cypress trees.
Check out the recent Sunset Magazine article, A Perfect Day in Mendocino, by Christopher Hall … includes Joshua Grindle Inn as the only suggested lodging!
The location of this Mendocino coast B&B provides quiet privacy away from the village but we are within easy walking distance of all that Mendocino has to offer. On-site parking is available for all guests.
In the main house, a lovely Victorian built in 1879, you will find our Parlor and five romantic guest rooms featuring beautiful antique furnishings and private baths, some with fireplaces.
Behind the main house under a swath of Cypress trees and surrounded by lush gardens sits the two spacious and private Cypress Cottage rooms. Both offer large spa baths and romantic fireplaces with comfortable seating. In addition to the cottages you will find the Water Tower guestrooms across the way. The Water Tower guestrooms also have private baths and two are outfitted with wood burning stoves from Vermont as well as a cozy sitting area. Guests are also always invited to linger in our parlor or in one of our many outside sitting areas.
Breakfast here is always an “event”. Most guests sit at the 10 person community table where lively conversations ensue and friendships are made. For those wishing a more intimate breakfast, we have tables for two outside on the porch. Perfect for watching hummingbirds and enjoying the garden over breakfast. All guests enjoy a full breakfast including yogurt, fruit and granola as well as a hot entrée such as quiche with bacon and hash browns. Most special dietary requests can be met if made in advance.
We have 2 pet friendly rooms: Water Tower I and Meadow View. Please note that pets are not allowed in the main house.
A visit to the Joshua Grindle Inn is a romantic walk through history. Mendocino Village and the spectacular rugged North Coast lay just beyond the doorstep…
We hope to see you soon!
“The Joshua Grindle Inn…is different from so many other bed and breakfasts in the whitewashed North Coast town. Maybe it’s the water tower. Or the extra attention to detail. Or simply the New England elegance that graces the property…”
